On our first trip to shoot urbnCal 2012 Helsinki we immediately got a feeling for Kallio, a part of Helsinki we were not so familiar with. We can’t help but love signs like this one. If you look close you will see the whole Tanttu family in this picture.
Perhaps this is a sketch of the perfect summer t-shirt. We are thinking of making the screen actual size, straight on, would fit fine on t-shirts for both adults and kids.
By the way, we just heard that you now have ice cream with bacon flavour over there (=USA) but jollygoodfellow is a bit old-school and likes the classic pear-vanilla-strawberry.

Well, now the scarves are all gone, thanks to Konstfack’s Christmas fair. We didn’t know how people would feel about them since the pattern is quite random, but both young and old liked them. Now we are inspired to continue the project.
For a long time we have been thinking of how to re-use all the proof textiles. They are like a visual history of jollygoodfellow. Old and new prints side by side and on top of each other. Now we have started to cut out squares, and we are thinking of having them as scarfs! And maybe we will add an extra print to some of them.
We just got back from a great week in Copenhagen biking around Vesterbro, Fredriksberg, Nørrebro, Østerbro, Christianshavn, Amager, Ørestad and the City area taking 1165 pictures, 365 of these will soon be urbnCal 2011. It is really one of the best cities to bike in and we learned that the Copenhagens bike 1,2 million kilometers daily! We have been working in a bigger studio at Västberga industrial park for two weeks, where we tried out some new prints based on sketches from our sketchbooks and photos from the Finnish countryside.
