Munken – Cradle to Cradle

Since the start we have mostly used the briljant paper Munken from Arctic Paper in Munkedal Sweden. Esa came in touch with it through book design and it was love at first sight. In 2017 we visited the paper mill one hour north of Gothenburg here in Sweden to learn some more about the paper production and their environmental work. We can tell that after that it feels even better to print on Munken paper.

And now they are the first paper mill in the world to be Cradle to Cradle Certified™!

“Cradle to Cradle (C2C) is a globally recognised standard for safe and sustainable products made for the circular economy. By applying the Cradle to Cradle design principle, we are not only minimising our negative influence on the environment – we are going beyond, to leave a positive footprint! “

Portraits

Small founds from the ground. We have experimented with them for some time now, and here is a series of new screen prints were we have organized the parts into faces. We call them Portraits, available in the jollygoodshop

Pearl

The sea has always had a special place in our hearts.

This print is a kind of statement but it also open up to various reflections. Hopefully it will remind us about the environmental situation in our seas and open up for interesting conversations.

We use a lot of plastic in the world, it’s very useful, but unfortunately much of it ends up in the wrong place. On the other hand there is a lot of power in nature. For example the mussels help us to take care of the overfertilization of the seas. Maybe it’s still not too late!

25% of the profit from every sold print will go to a project by the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation (Naturskyddsföreningen) for healthier seas.

The screen print is based on a photograph. The mussel is found on the beach at Mellbystrand, Sweden. We put some clay inside to imitate the muscle and to be able to place the plastic pearl.

Technique: Photo based screen print

Munken Pure 240 g (Swedish High Quality paper)
Size: 40×50 cm

Amsterdam

St. Bavo Church in Haarlem with bikes all around it.

We went to Amsterdam, Netherlands, to take part in the two day design fair showUP.  It was great days with a lot of new input, both at the fair and in the surroundings. We are already planning to come back!

Kronetorps Möllan

In May we took part in a local group exhibition at the old wind mill just outside Arlöv. What an honor to be a part of this, to exhibit in a room that is like a piece of art in itself and to do it together with these good people/artists. Hope that this will be a new tradition!
